Christmas Past

So Christmas is over and we are moving towards welcoming a new year. Here at the Nelms house we enjoyed some great cooking over the days leading up to Christmas as well as the day after. I found a new scone recipe and I must say it is one of the best ones I have ever made. Triple chocolate chip scones. These were a drop scone, not a cut and formed like I have done before. I love to cook and love the free time I have during Christmas break to experiment with new recipes.
I always become melancholy at this point in the year. I gear up for Christmas and become so anxious to watch others enjoy the gifts I have purchased for them and then it is so quickly gone. We had such a wonderful day and I just didn't want it to end. I so enjoy time with my family and there are days that I long for Christmas past, just so I can have those feelings all over again. It's not the gifts or the treats that are received and given. It is the laughing, hugging and playing that I most enjoy. One of my favorite Christmas songs has a line in it that states, "If every day were like Christmas Day, what a great day that would be." So true. I have resolved, before January 1 even, to keep that idea in my mind and try to embrace each day with excitement! I hope I can keep it gong for a long time.

Sorridere sempre
